International Asteroid Day

Today, the United Nations observes the anniversary of the Tunguska impact over Siberia, Russian Federation, on 30 June 1908. On this day, a Near-Earth object (NEO; asteroid or comet) was responsible for the Earth's largest impact of an asteroid in recorded history.

International Asteroid Day was established in 2016 to "raise public awareness about the asteroid impact hazard".
